Established in 2000 as Lilac Farms, New Horizons Haflingers is a small, private Haflinger breeding farm located in central Michigan that is the product of a lifelong dream to breed, raise and train horses. At Lilac Farms, we raise modern, refined Haflingers for sport and pleasure. Haflingers are a small breed of horse that originated in the Tyrolian mountains of Austria. Their calm, gentle temperment, beautiful coloring, athleticism, and "easy-keeper" quality make them a great horse for people of all ages and disciplines.

Our foals are born on the farm and bred by us, handled daily from birth, shown extensively, and receive age-appropriate training using natural horsemanship techniques. This includes round pen work, as well as ground driving and long-lining, before they begin their driving and under saddle work at age three. As a result, our Haflingers are well-mannered, well-trained and extremely sociable, both with humans and horses.

Our muti-champion silver classified and inspected mares are out of silver and gold classified stallions, and are bred to multi-champion and national champion silver and gold classified and inspected stallions. The result--offspring that are the total package--correct conformation, excellent movement and athleticism, refinement with clean bones, yet enough substance and bone to ride, drive or compete in any arena.

Haflinger Horses excel under saddle in dressage, jumping, eventing and other disciplines, as well as in combined driving and pleasure driving venues.

At New Horizons Haflingers, we focus on quality, not quantity. Our goal is to raise well-trained, versatile horses that are respectful, trusting and easy to handle, and to place them in permanent homes. It is important to us to match the right horse to the right person. If we don't have what you are looking for, we will refer you to someone who does. Since nearly all the horses we offer for sale were born and raised on our farm, we know their history as well as their genetic make up. In addition to receiving the utmost in service, you will also receive a packet with your purchase that includes medical and health-related history or your horse, photos from various stages of their life, copies of show records, and other pertinent information. We will also gladly serve as a resource to assist you as you plan for future shows and events, and (if you are unable to show your horse yourself), we will show horses purchased from us for you.

We invite you to inquire about our services, including: boarding, show prepping, prepping for inspection & classification, horses for sale, payment plans, and our discounts for foals purchased in utero. We are located in Laingsburg, Michigan, 30 minutes Northeast of Michigan State University. Please feel free to contact us via e-mail at newhorizonshaflingers@gmail.com or by phone (b) 517 410 8000 or (h) 517 651 2011.

Sadly, we lost Tuffy at 12 years of age on March 23, 2009. Our loveable "tuff-guy" will be greatly missed.
